The 'new' bridge at Townfoot.  The build up of ice at the bridges was quite scary with strange creaking and grinding noises emitted from the ice flow. I recall dynamite was considered to break a hole in the ice and induce the river to flow again. If anyone can recall this event in more detail I'd be delighted to hear from them.
