| Jedforest V Hawick - December 2004 27th |
Jed were edged out by 11 points to 8 by Hawick today in a typically hard fought border derby played in front of a bumper crowd. Jed fell behind to an early penalty but soon went in front though a Bevan Hart try scored from a sloppy Hawick lineout on their own line. Disaster struck next when Jed were attacking but a Clark Laidaw pass was intercepted and the Hawick centre raced clear to put them 8 - 5 up at half time. |
Jed equalized through a Greg Laidlaw penalty and the rest of second half was very much a tug 'o' war affair. Hawick were playing with the wind and luckily for Jed they missed several long range penalties. Jed had 3 great breaks but could not find the killer pass and it was left to the Hawick substitute stand off to drop a killer drop goal from just out side the 22 to seal the game for Hawick allowing them to be the 1st name on the Skelly Cup. |
| Not a classic game by any means but very enjoyable all the same and it was fantastic to see such a big crowd, lets hope the SRU take note. |
