On
Saturday July the 2nd, 2005, ex pupils from Jedburgh Grammar School
held their second school reunion, the first taking place ten years ago when
everyone was hovering around the forty mark. This time, some of us
have hit the big five-o and the rest of us still have the pleasure
of saying we are in our forties - but only just!
Pupils that attended Jedburgh Grammar School in the 1968/69 years
met for a hectic day of celebrations and catch-up. Some of us meeting
in the Carters Rest then the Bus Station, the group headed for sunny Spittal.
We
were re-enacting our old Sunday School Trip days when buses jam
packed with kids, streamers, buckets and spades headed for Spittal
beach. This time, the bus was choca with granny's and grand-dads,
fathers and mothers and bottles of lemonade had miraculously turned
into champagne!

ITINERARY
The scene was set. Bus Station 12.30, Spittal beach 13.30, brief
walk along the promenade, a quick dook in the sea (still bloody
freezing after all those years), packed lunch, nae bingo, chinwag,
build a few sandcastles, then into one of the local pubs. Kelso
around 4.30, Black Swan for more refreshment, sing-song in the bus
and a return to Jedburgh for 5.30 'ish. Carters Rest for the buffet
and disco, finish up at 1pm. A day to remember!
NOTE!
If anyone else has digital photographs taken on the day and would
like to submit them for publication on this web site, I will gladly
prepare them for upload. Please see the Contacts Page for email,
address, etc. Cathy, Janet, Jasper and Christine all had cameras,
Jasper took four pictures of her left forefinger, three of her
forehead, two of her feet then the memory card was full! (Hey
Jasper, it was great to see you and I hope you did get some great
pics).
THE TOAST, "Tae Us A'"
I hope no one took offence at the 'Toast' speech. The spelling and
wording were designed to help me read the thing after a few beers.
Its not proper Scots by any means but those with a Jethart accent
should have "nae bother readin it."

Many thanks to everyone who turned up for the day. I think everyone
had a great time as the photographs illustrate. It was a special
day, one for the scrap book, aye - for sure!

On the return journey from Spittal - Berwick, we had to say hello to
the 'Kelsae Kippers' and the Mucky Duck was the best place for this.
Cheers folks.
